Canon’s new 70-200 F4 lens benefits from the short back focus distance design of the RF system and reduces the size of the entire optical system by arranging large-aperture lenses closer to the imaging plane. In addition, the miniaturization of the entire optical system is achieved by adopting an external rotation type zoom mode that changes the total length, and the effective arrangement of mechanical parts and lenses.
Compared with the EF 70-200mm f / 4L IS II USM (2018 Released June 2009), the new RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM while maintaining high image quality, greatly reduced the volume and weight of the lens: a total length of from about 176 mm is reduced to about 119 mm, a reduction of about 32%; the weight is reduced from about 780 grams to about 695 grams, a reduction of about 11%, making it easier to carry and shoot, becoming the shortest and lightest Canon 70-200 F4 interchangeable lens . At the same time, when shooting, even if the lens barrel is extended and the telephoto end of the lens is used to shoot, a good balance can be maintained.
When the RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM is paired with a camera that supports body anti-shake, it can realize the collaborative anti-shake of the camera and lens. With EOS R5, it can achieve a 7.5-level hand shake compensation effect when shooting photos, and a higher level of anti-shake effect when shooting dynamic videos; even with EOS R that does not support body anti-shake (released in October 2018 ), can also achieve 5.0-level hand shake compensation.
The RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM is expected to be available in mid-December 2020. It is reported that the Canon RF 70-200mm F4 L IS USM lens is priced at US$1,599 overseas.
In addition, Canon also launched the RF50mm F1.8 STM lens, which is only about 40.5 mm in length and only weighs about 160 grams, suitable for street shooting and daily snapshots. Compared with EF50mm f/1.8 STM, RF50mm F1.8 STM further shortens the closest focusing distance, the maximum magnification is increased to 0.25 times, and the closest focusing distance is shortened to 0.3 meters.
The RF50mm F1.8 STM will be available in early December, with an overseas price of US$199.
